HOME CARE SERVICES - PAYING FOR CARE

More and more people are choosing to stay within the comfort of their own homes over going into residential care. With the rising cost of living on everyone’s minds, the cost for care will no doubt be one of the many key factors when looking into care options for an elderly loved one.

PAYING FOR CARE

Home care is calculated on the amount of care and support you need, our team will conduct a free care assessment to find out what level of care is required. Depending on your circumstances, you might be entitled to support with the costs of care.

Regardless of whether you arrange for your loved one to move into a care home or you arrange home care services for them, you can get a financial assessment from your local council. This is a means test that will determine whether you’re eligible for any financial support from the local authority to help you pay for private care services.

If you are entitled to financial support, it can come from various places, including benefits entitlement, NHS healthcare funding and social care payments.

To check what benefits you/your loved one may be entitled to and information on all available benefits, a full list is available from the government website.

If you have social care needs, such as support with personal care, mobility or retaining your independence, you may be eligible for social care funding through your local authority. With a social care personal budget, you will be involved with decisions about your care and who provides that care.

Kent County Council have lots of information on their website about using your personal fund via direct payments.
